Do not rub or scrub at your piece, it will only make the stain spread and set. Apply even and firm pressure to the stain, blotting on the clean part of your towel and continuing until the stain has lightened.   Cold Water Your instinct may be to spray hot water or chemicals on the stain, but this can only make the problem worse. Vacuuming Vacuuming is one of the best preventative measures for keeping your rug healthy and restoring life to the natural fibers.
