DESCRIPTION: Originating from the Ganado region in Arizona, this textile features the classic deep red, black, white, and gray colors made from natural vegetal and hand-carded wool dyes, each selected with symbolic care. The rug’s central design showcases a stepped diamond medallion or elongated lozenge, framed by symmetrical geometric motifs and a finely balanced border. These elements are hallmarks of the Ganado style, which became especially recognized under the influence of trader Lorenzo Hubbell, who encouraged weavers to incorporate strong, eye-catching designs rooted in traditional Navajo aesthetics.
